Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at a Title I school. Approximately 54% of our students are eligible to receive free or reduced lunch. I have thirty-two fourth graders in my class, twenty of whom are English Language Learners. My students enjoy hands-on activities and are especially interested in using technology across the curriculum to support their learning.
With the constantly changing world it is so important to provide our students with tools and strategies that assist them in being successful while supporting 21st century skills.
My Project
Part of my focus as an educator this year is Universal Design for Learning, UDL. UDL focuses on giving students choices while learning. Using the Neewer Background Support System (green screen) and an Apple iPad with the Apple Pencil in my classroom will let my students present their learning in a video or commercial format. They will use an iPad to record in front of the green screen, and then they will use the Green Screen App to add pictures and photographs as well as a background. Green screen videos work similar to the way meteorologists deliver the weather.
Providing my students with the opportunity to have a voice and a choice in their learning will allow them to direct their learning and be more invested.
This project will assist in meeting the needs of the various learning styles and enhance the classroom experience.
