My students are SO excited and energetic about learning. Whether it is through reciting poems, asking questions about the books we read, or moving around through hands-on activities, my students are always willing and wanting to learn new things!
These kindergarteners have shown much enthusiasm for discovering new ideas and then sharing that information with all those around them through movement, stories, and song.
They love showing encouragement for each other in whatever the job is and, most importantly, they NEVER GIVE UP!
My Project
Since most of my students come from low income or homeless families, many of them do not get many chances to explore and observe the many wonders of the world. Magnetic force, the changing seasons, the fine detail that can only be seen through magnification are only a few parts of the world that will become lost since most of the day is spent working on reading, writing and math skills.
However, while focusing on reading, math, and writing are important, being able to learn about the world and how it works early on will not only help students gain a new perspective on life and see the world in a new way, but also set them up for success later on in life.
I will use the magnetic tiles, the eyedroppers, the magnifier, and ready-to-go learning centers in my STEAM center. In this center, my students will have opportunities to explore magnetic force while also building, planning, and creating through the use of the magnetic learning center and the magnetic tiles. They will be able to look at small parts of the world in a whole new way through the tabletop magnifier. They will be able to observe what happens when certain liquids are combined or taken away through the use of eye droppers as well as strengthen their fine motor skills. Finally, my students will be able to gain a better understanding of the seasons, animal habitats and parts of a plant through the use of the instant learning centers and puzzles.
