Exploring the World Through Maps, Atlases, and Globes.
Help me give my students the resources they need to become global citizens. The world atlases will help them understand their place in the world and inspire a sense of wonder about our planet.

My Students
My class consists of 24 students creating learning experiences in a close-knit community public school in Maine. Every morning they walk into the classroom eager to see what I have planned for them to learn. They are beginning to understand how they can affect the world around through actions and words.
The classroom environment is collaborative, creative, and innovative, where the students enjoy working together to explore ways to become responsible, caring, and respectful members of our community.
My students take learning seriously and strive to make the best of the opportunities given to learn and grow both in the classroom, in the school community, and in the world.
My Project
My students have access to tools that allow them to communicate instantly with other students around the world. What they need now is a sense of where these other students come from and how far or near they really are. With atlases, we can do some daily exploration into where other towns, countries, and continents are in relation to where we live. By doing this, the kids get inspired to learn about the different people and cultures that are part of our world.
When our children grow up, they will be interacting with people from all corners of the world on a daily basis, whether it's ordering products through manufacturing facilities, consulting with other doctors in other countries, or working with NGOs that are bringing resources to those in need.
By providing our students with the tools to learn about all the countries in the world, and our relation to them, we are giving our children a head start on developing a global mindset that will see them achieve dreams and goals they haven't even thought of yet.
We are looking to get a class set of atlases, a large wall map, and a globe, all to use as references and jumping-off points for lessons and curiosity-seeking adventures.
