My Students
My students come to school every day excited to learn! They are smart, curious, creative, and hardworking. They love to read, love to explore, and love to learn new things.
Many of my students come from low-income households and do not have access to educational materials or preschool prior to beginning kindergarten. Our goal is to have students reading, writing, adding, and subtracting by the time they leave kindergarten. As their teacher, my goal is to provide my students with the love, support, knowledge, and resources they need to be successful.
My Project
These books will allow my Kindergarteners to learn about the world around them through reading. Every week during our Science, Social Studies and Health time, my students explore topics such as holidays, influential historical figures, health, family, food, animals and the four seasons.
This project will impact my classroom by giving my students resources to learn about the world outside of their community. Living in Las Vegas means most of my students have no first-hand knowledge of farm animals, crops, and natural habitats like the ocean or forest. These books will help my students learn about things in our world they would otherwise have no real world exposure to.
