This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students in my classroom are some of the most amazing kids you will ever meet! They face some very difficult challenges due to physical and developmental disabilities. Despite this, they show up every day with smiles on their faces.
My classroom challenges students on a daily basis and they never cease to amaze me with the skills they are learning!
I love working with these students on a daily basis and watching them grow stronger on so many levels.
My Project
Two of my students have some form of visual impairment. This can make learning a bit more difficult at times. Using a light table can help provide the needed contrast which helps children with tracking and helps develop an awareness of color and objects. Having the light table tray will allow us to use a variety of materials for our children to explore and learn.
The light table and tray will allow my students to explore their world in a new way while developing and improving skills such as hand-eye coordination and recognition of objects.
My students will be able to work on recognizing and naming numbers and letters, as well as sorting out colors, shapes, and other objects.
