Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Energetic, fun, and lively learners is what I would say to describe my students. I am a teacher in a self-contained classroom for students with autism. The grade levels of my students range from 1st through 5th.

Being in a high-needs school has my students at a disadvantage than some of the other schools in the surrounding counties. The limited resources have created a challenging learning environment, as my students learn best with hands-on materials and when given structured learning in small increments of time. Our classroom needs more sensory stimulating manipulatives, materials for learning through art, and music for transitions and movement.

We are in need of wooden number blocks, number tiles with operational symbols, hop along balls, a CD of lively movement songs, mobile math activity mats, a complete set instruments, number and letter cookie cutters, paint and modeling clay.

Your help is needed to make a difference in the lives of these students. You will make it possible for instruction to be facilitated in a more meaningful and functional way for my students.
