My students need materials they can explore with their hands. I am in need of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) materials the students can use to build and create.
I teach first grade in a class of 25 culturally diverse students from various backgrounds. My school has a 60 percent free and reduced lunch population. My school is not Title One funded so many resources are left for the teacher to fulfill. Many of my students do not get read to at home or get the extra one on one help they need.
"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn".
Students learn best when they get to explore concepts with hands on materials and manipulatives.
My Project
These materials would help elevate my students learning. They would be able to act out concepts through hands on play. Many of my students do not have access to materials like these to explore.
My first graders would be able to explore these materials in math with their fellow peers.
The conversations of what works and problem solving among the students would be a wonderful addition to their learning experience.
These materials are ideal for my struggling students as well as my high achieving students. It is important to me to give my students opportunities to explore and be motivated about math and science.
