My Students

My students and I love to learn and we use every moment during our day to explore, question, and create. We are scholars, working to imagine new possibilities for our community, city, state, country, and world. My students have minds that are curious and ready to learn!

At our school, ninety-six percent of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and ninety-two percent of the students are students of color.

The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language. My students and I work to dream up creative solutions for a better world. Together, my students and I are working hard to ensure that they are all confident and capable of meeting their full potential.

My Project

My students live near the Mississippi River and many of them have never seen it, much less been on a boat. Big River Journey (BRJ) provides river and classroom experiences that connect 3rd-5th grade students with the science and heritage of the Mississippi River. BRJ features a riverboat excursion on the Mississippi River with hands-on learning stations.

Help me show my students the beauty and wonder of the Mississippi River.

Big River Journey field trips feature staffed learning stations with hands-on activities on the following topics: Aquatic insects & water quality, River geology, River ecosystems, and River birds.

This field trip will be the perfect partner for our Water Unit in 4th grade.
