Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
It would take me days to tell you everything that I love about my learners, but one of my favorite things is their passion for learning.
My scholars are hungry for information, which they receive through their interactions with literacy!
They come in everyday excited for what novel we are reading next, or in hopes that we will finish the chapter we didn't on the previous day.
The novels we read allow my students to escape their personal hardships and difficulties. They are able to experience things they otherwise have no exposure to. It builds their background knowledge and better prepares them for the real world.
My Project
My scholars will soon begin a unit all about the Holocaust, World War II, and world leaders. They will be learning through different artifacts such as propaganda, news articles, and first hand accounts from people who experienced the Holocaust and other major events during World War II. It is important that my scholars have different sources with different points of view in order for them to learn about these historical events in a well rounded and informed way. Having exposure to our world's history through literature can spark their curiosity and urge them to want to continue learning about our past.
