My students need projects that excite them to follow the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math pathways. I am starting small with a microscope that connects to the computer and electronic boards to get them started.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
There is a moment in the learning process that I love. It is the "I can do it!" moment. For some, it is quick, while others take their time getting to that moment.
Our school serves students in grades 6 through 8 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers, and a safe learning environment.
Our goal is to prepare our students for success in high school and college.
Our school is comprised of around 900 amazing students, many of whom come from bilingual households. Around 76% of our students are at a disadvantage economically and yet they are hard-working students. Our students saw improvement in all four areas that the state of Texas uses to assess the school.
My Project
In today's world, students have access to technology, yet send less time physically exploring their world. I want to show them new ways to interact with their environment and encourage more girls and boys to explore STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Math) careers.
These materials will be used to excite our students by allowing them to view their world microscopically on our large projection boards and to explore electricity and circuit boards.
This will be used in our STEM classes and our after-school program to encourage more students to participate in STEM-related pathways to graduation.
We will be using these materials during visits from guest speakers as well as in the classroom to explore design and applications of electronics. The microscope will allow them to see things up close and explore biological phenomenons in ways they cannot currently.
