I teach a great bunch of second graders in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in northeast Georgia. Our school houses only first and second grades and it is full of energy!
My students are an active group of kids.
The gifted second graders come to my room for mathematics, science and enrichment classes each day. For mathematics and science we work on our state standards. During our enrichment time we work on projects to help the students develop and improve their problem solving skills, critical thinking, research skills, leadership and creativity. I also teach a science enrichment class to all the second graders in our school. During this time we explore and use the tools of a scientist.
My Project
Small Blue Blocks have holes and shapes that fit together in ways that allow for building, stacking, channeling, and connecting. Students can construct different types of structures. The sets contains a variety of shapes, including cubes, bricks, cogs, curves, and cylinders.
Building with Small Blue Blocks, the students will be able to explore the areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
During our science enrichment time, all second graders in our school will be able to use the blocks during our STEM unit. Using the Small Blue Blocks will allow the students to build and rebuild, using their imaginations to create and explore.
