My Students

My students are highly motivated youth living in the Alaskan Bush. We live in a remote community of about 85 people that is a three-hour flight from the nearest city (and away from any roads).

Our school serves 22 students from PreK through High School.

They are incredibly motivated and seek out every opportunity possible to learn about the world, but we encounter challenges in getting resources out here. We seek to help them experience new concepts and places by connecting them with the materials they need to learn about the world around them.

My Project

Living in a remote area, our students have always shown interest in the night sky. We're able to see the stars quite clearly out here, but our students have little formal knowledge about the subject. We'd like to get a telescope so that we can show our students what's in space and they can learn about what's out there.

This project will reach 22 students from PreK through 12th grade and will help spark their interests in space exploration.

It will also grant them the ability to explore potential future career options that they previously didn't know existed.
