My students are eager to learn, but need some additional support and empathy. Our school is a suburban school, but our diversity is quite significant. Our district has a large territory and the economic diversity is startling.
Most of the learners within my classes have never successfully read a book.
They tend to experience extreme anxiety with reading and struggle to complete any task independently. They have a want to do better, but often times figure that most people have already given up on them.
My Project
Students in my class have varying academic and personal needs. Many struggle with learning disabilities and attention difficulties. The materials I'm requesting will provide assistance in meeting the needs of those learners.
It is my dream to provide a dynamic learning environment with flexible seating and literature for every reader, in order to provide a safe space to learn and collaborate together.
I want to guide learners through the consistent learning of engaging literature as many of them have never read a novel successfully. The flexible seating will allow those students who struggle with attention and movement to focus on reading.
