My Students Rock! Our school system is located in a very small town that is very supportive of us. My students are unique because we are housed in the middle school. Our school, while not Title I, is part of a Title I district and 60% of the students qualify for free/reduced lunch. Over 1/2 of our kids come from low-income households. We have a mix of different races and cultures.
My students love to dig deeper into science through hands-on experiences.
Many students are identified to have specific learning disabilities. Hands-on activities bring a new meaning to concepts that may be abstract for them.
Even though they face income challenges and sometimes learning challenges, they will work hard to succeed. Our kids deserve the best and we work with all of the tools we can find, like DonorsChoose.org, to make their educational experience incredible! You can be a big part of that!
My Project
Building a generation that LOVES Science. Science is all about exploration. What better way to explore new concepts that by using hands-on experiences. When I teach, I love to reach every child no matter what if they are a visual, kinesthetic, or auditory learner. Having manipulatives for my students to explore and engage with help make an impact and provide them with more meaningful learning experiences. I am asking for a microscope, construction paper, magnets, and a science kit to boost hands-on engagement, so students can self explore with guidance. Anything that adds to their love of Science is a win for me!
