Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I would like to introduce you to our students. These students come from diverse backgrounds with many struggles but with lots of enthusiasm to learn and connect with their education. As they have had many struggles and challenges, one of the things that impacted our students was Hurricane Harvey. Teaching Science expects my students to be hands on and use technology to interact and engage.
I firmly believe that there is nothing you should not try, I have always said the worse thing that can happen is that you get a No.
If this happens you try again.
My Project
As a community that was impacted by Hurricane Harvey, most funds were allocated to rebuild or patch up structures and not put back into the classroom for educational use. Hurricane Harvey not only put on a strain on our physical community but also in our educational community. Having only a handful of Ipads in classroom would not only benefit the students but teacher as well. Along with the Ipads having access to Scholatic Readers will vertically align students to read more and stay engaged in the subject.
Ipads are excellent educational tools as they are readily available, they do not require high extensive training to use them and come equip to use with most educational programs that schools already use.
It is also easy to find content and apps to use that will broaden a students horizons.
The aid of Ipads and Scholastic readers will give students opportunities to create and share content with other students. As a teacher I can more easily integrate instruction in cross-curricular lessons using the Ipads, for example when studying Solar System, a use of a reference app comes to life with high-resolution photos, videos, animation, music, and text. Furthermore the Scholastic readers can help a child imagine in greater detail and boost their reading skills.
