My Students
My kids are creative, funny and insightful. They make everyday an adventure for me! Most of them have lived a life full of challenges and many struggle with school, however with the right resources and care they have the potential to make a positive impact in their world. Several students were also impacted by hurricane Harvey last year, losing valuable education time as well as personal belongings and even homes. These kids are dynamic and creative. Thier challenging situation should not impact their future successes.
My Project
These books will build a library my students can become engrossed in. Most of my students hate reading but I firmly believe this is because they haven’t had the opportunity to truly explore all the rich and imaginative options which are available to them. I want to have a robust in class library which is easily accessible to each of my students.
I have chosen a variety of interests, topics and reading levels so that every child can choose a book which suits him or her as well as explore new genres. Having the in class library will allow students more independent reading time, more choices and more chances to think critically about what they are reading.
