My scholars love reading and losing themselves in a book. They are always quick to retell the stories that they have read and want to discuss as many book as they can.
They are some of the most hard working first graders that I have met.
They want to do their best at all times and really show what they have learned. Our school is a place of joy and learning each and every day. My scholars find joy in books and all that characters do and say within those books.
My Project
My scholars will use the books each and every day. We have independent reading time and I know that they would love to be able to read new titles and new stories. They will not only use them inside the classroom but outside as well. They will be able to use these stories to tell their families all about what they read and understood from those books. These books range from fun fantasy books like The Magic Tree House series to Biographies on presidents. This will give my scholars the ability to further distinguish between fantasy and non-fiction. They will be able to use those titles to connect to their lives and what they already know.
They will not only grow our classroom library but our schools library as well.
Our school is such a wonderful school to be apart of each and every day I feel that with my first grade scholars. This will expose my scholars and the school to titles that they may not have seen before.
