The school I teach in is very unique in its environment and curriculum. Students are lifted up to be leaders of their own learning, compassionate and curious, and excited about diving into real world situations, field work that follows their classroom curriculum and servicing their community. In the art room, we take on every art medium we can get our hands on.
My students are loving, excited, creative and focused on having the best craftsmanship possible.
They come from very diverse backgrounds and homes, but cooperation is a key focus for our young artists.
Students adore getting their hands on paint, clay, pastels, sketching pencils, crayons, markers and more. They are also very eager to move forward into the digital art world and are constantly using both platforms to further their knowledge and skill levels. It's a very rewarding feeling to see them leave their worries and fears at the door to find an outlet and release through art-making.
My Project
With these materials, students will be given the opportunity to create unique and original works of art with metals and magnets. Students don't usually have the opportunity to expand their horizons beyond crayons and paper.
Students will reach new heights in their artistic endeavors, going beyond their typical drawing projects.
Most of our students come from low income households and are not able to experience any new materials outside what they can interact with at school. These materials will help students to understand metal works, the processes for creating with multimedia mindsets, and the respect for new opportunities and materials.
