My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions. They love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order for them to grow both personally and academically. They are excited to be involved in a school that fosters exploratory learning that expands their thinking and gives them opportunities that other students may not get.
My Project
Math manipulatives will give my students opportunities to learn through hands-on inquiry based learning. The clear-view 3-D shapes will allow my students to have a clear representation of each solid shape and will help them describe their attributes. Also, the wooden 3-D shapes will help my students learn about their features and have a visual representation of them.
For example, children can experiment with physics by building different structures with the wooden toys or learn about geometry by manipulating the toys to create their own geometric patterns.
The construction paper can be used in many ways in the classroom. Students can draw pictures of the shapes or create 3-D shapes using the construction paper. Students can also search for 3-D shapes online and print them using the wireless color printer. Using the geoboards, students can create 2-D shapes or geometric patterns to share with their classmates.
