I am blessed to be the teacher of an amazing group of 5 & 6 year old students in Southern Appalachia. One hundred percent of the students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students are given a backpack of food for each weekend or break from school. Despite the challenges some of them face in their home lives, these students come to our classroom every day ready to be loved, taught, and encouraged to do & be their best. My students love using hands-on activities and are crazy about using technology to learn. I am always trying my best to keep their young minds engaged and find new ways to help instill a love of learning.
My Project
These materials will not only help my kindergarteners become more familiar with technology, but will also give them the opportunity to practice on individualized computer programs that will help reinforce math and reading skills. This will also allow more students to be working on computer-based reading comprehension assessments at a time helping with our time management and encouraging student independence. My students love being able to use technology and I try my best to give them as many opportunities as I can to incorporate it into our classroom. Receiving this chromebook would be a huge help for our daily routine!
