Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Elementary school grades is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. I am a special education teacher for grades 3-5, some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning to imitate sounds. Our group loves hands-on, play outside and learn new games. I love engaging them in projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions!
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.
We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My students are awesome, but the hybrid learning model has been difficult for them since it is difficult to complete creative assessments on Chromebooks. They are hard workers who are willing to take risks and are excited to try new experiences. They love technology and are very proficient in its
My Project
This project will allow me to prepare my students to work collaboratively with each other. Students on the spectrum have a hard time interacting with their peers. The coding skills kids learn while playing with Dash, a Coding Robot, will help them as they prepare for middle and high school while also helping to develop their critical thinking skills today is perfect for use in a classroom with class peers, letting kids work solo or come together for group coding projects. Dash is extremely entertaining for my students and comes with hours of interactive challenges and 5 free apps for endless hours of fun. Which why I am requesting the protective case to allow me to keep it safe for many years.
The other materials in my cart are building blocks which are used as an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.
