I serve twenty-two, first grade students who live in the heart of the mountains of Eastern Kentucky.
They are bright, energetic, and extremely eager learners. They are at a very critical time in their life, the beginning stage of math, reading, and writing. Their focus should be on learning, rather than what they don't have or what they need.
My Project
I'm requesting 2 iPad Minis with protective cases to be used during technology time to reinforce financial literacy skills and to address the individual learning styles of every learner in my classroom. It is imperative that the needs of my dyslexic students, kinesthetic students, the auditory, and visual learners are met. These Minis will allow for just that. With this in mind, these iPad Minis will help my students achieve greater financial literacy skills by providing a means to explore numerous money interactive software to include, but not limited to "The Dollar Store, Piggy Bank, and Making Change." Students will be able to find the correct combination of coins that equal the price of items purchased, quickly process coin totals, and learn to make change.
These iPad Minis will allow for additional practice and reinforcement of important financial literacy skills.
My students need to be able to do this in a fun and interactive manner, addressing individual learning styles, and this technology will accomplish such. Be a part of giving a gift that will continue to give year after year, and give the gift of financial literacy through interactive learning.
