Exploring Fiction and Non-Fiction As Friends Become Writers
My students need a audio source for all of their favorite stories about animals and Dr. Suess to be heard in their small group read alouds. They love keeping their work in a durable folder.
My students are energetic and ready to learn to read. We are working to insure that every Kindergarten student is reading on grade level when they end their school year in June. We will read together, with partners and independently throughout each day to help encourage great reading habits and vocabulary building. Their Math skills are developed through hands on activities that are fun and a part of their daily environment. Students play games using their skills daily.
Many of our students live in the city.
Their living conditions are often at the poverty level. We try to insure the students have two well balanced meals at school and work with the food bank to help supplement their food at home.
My Project
The students need an audio source to read their favorite Non-Fiction Creepy Crawly, Furry critter stories together in a listening center. As they are learning more words Dr. Suess will come alive in their read alongs. They love to be read to with their friends.
Listening to great fiction and non-fiction will spark their interest as writers!
When they are working on their writing they like to share their stories with their families. A sturdy folder will help their little masterpieces arrive home safely to be shared before their stories travel safely back for publishing.
Writing about their favorite subjects and exploring their creative talents will fill their afternoons with fun and excitement.
