Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a classroom full of wonderful and amazing children. Our class consists of multi-level learners. They are a diverse group of kids ranging from English Language Learners to Special Education children. Our school is a Title I school and the majority of my students come from low-income families. Most students live in high-poverty neighborhoods with single parent homes.
When given the opportunity, these kids love working on assignments done on the computers.
It is such a treat for them when they get free time on the computers! Most of these kids are only exposed to this kind of technology at school because they can not afford to have a computer at home.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my student’s learning by helping them spark an interest in exploring and learning about different parts of the world! Many of my students have never vacationed away from their hometown! They have not had the opportunity to visit zoo’s, museums, national parks, caverns, and many other places that others take for granted. With this project, our class plans on being able to explore different parts of the world in the comfort of our classroom. We plan on exploring many virtual visits to museums, snorkeling, cavern exploring, and maybe even traveling overseas! This will sure capture their interest for many subjects being studied throughout the year!
