My students are the best! They love school. They come in every day with smiles on their faces, ready to learn. My students love to learn, they are sponges and soak every new experience in as much as they can. They are enthusiastic about everything we do, and we do a lot! Our day provides routine and structure and love that they may not get at home, yet they are kind, loving and caring.
My students are hard workers, and even though they are just Kindergartners, they want to do well and succeed.
They love doing their work and take pride in everything they accomplish. Every day at Choice Time, I have multiple students making me pictures that say "I love you, Mrs. Segit." They love playing school and usually fight over who gets to pretend to be me. It's not only my current students either, it's all of my past students as well that are so special. Every time I see a former student in the hallway or even out in the community, I get a hug and hear, "I miss you Mrs. Segit. I wish I could go back to Kindergarten." It's such an amazing thing to hear!
My Project
These materials would help engage and excite all of my learners and bring them into the world of engineering in such a fun way. I teach Science to all Kindergartners. We have a huge unit on Engineering and STEM in the spring. I hope to use these materials to inspire and ignite a love of STEM and Science in my students. I will use these materials to explain the Engineering Process to my students and give them hands-on experiences to practice understanding all that goes into being an engineer.
In using these materials, I hope to see collaboration between peers and problem solving at its best.
Students will be able to work together and test out their ideas in real time. I would show my students the kits and materials in order to get their creative juices flowing and then let them imagine, design and create their own projects related to a particular engineering problem or challenge.
