Exploring Energy with Engineering: Keeping Ourselves Engaged

Help me give my students some amazing tools to keep them engaged while building their own working flashlights and wind turbines as we explore types of energy.

My Students

Inquisitive, eager, and thoughtful best describe the learners under my care. They surprise me daily when presented with the variety of learning activities they are exposed to. They grapple with challenging tasks, and are able to struggle with complex concepts. Many of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and thrive when challenged.

My students come from diverse backgrounds.

They help to compose our great learning community. They enjoy using technology to code, write and create projects and read texts related to our science core. They enjoy the design and engineering process to solve common real word problems.

My Project

Covid-19 has introduced some new challenges to the classroom. Students are having a harder time engaging in their work and require teachers to provide lot of hands-on learning.

The Flexible seating options will allow my students to have multiple choices, helping them to focus on the task at hand.

The screwdrivers will help my students build working wind turbines, helping them to explore how wind energy can convert to electrical energy. The copper tape will be used to create flashlights demonstrating circuits and light energy. The pencil pouches will keep their desk area clean and organized so meaningful learning can take place. The colorful Jenga blocks will be used to enhance the learning experience.
