Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Working in an urban area, our school has limited funding.

My students come from diverse backgrounds and various family situations.

They are also a diverse set of learners. I have some special education students as well as higher level students in my class. My school currently educates students from Pre-K to 8th grade.

My Project

I am looking to spend five days during summer break to learn more about incorporating computer science into my math classroom. This project will help cover the costs for computer science training for myself and a stipend to support my learning. My students are all about technology, and I would love to bring this opportunity to them. They are currently excited to start some basic coding of robots and incorporating this next year will be amazing.

My students as well as myself will benefit from this experience by being able to incorporate more computer science into the mathematics curriculum.

My goal is to get at least one of my students to find computer science interesting that they are willing to continue their education beyond high school.
