Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students enjoy opportunities to explore and apply science. My school is located in a lively urban environment. It is a Title I school, serving a low-income population. Despite the challenges and obligations these students face outside of school, they show up every day ready to learn.
For many of these students, school is a safe and consistent place where they feel supported by their classmates and school staff.
These students are leaders, innovators, artists, activists, and more.
My Project
A memory that sticks out most from my high school science years is having the opportunity to dissect an animal, learning about systems in a hands-on approach. This project will give my students the opportunity to have that same memory.
These materials will provide my students with a chance to apply their knowledge about body systems as they explore the systems of fetal pigs.
Preserved specimens allow students to complete in-depth observations of the specimens, learn about comparative anatomy, explore potential career paths, and practice problem-solving skills while working in groups.
I want my students to have the opportunity to create memories that they will remember throughout their whole life!
