This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is Pre-K through Sixth grade with almost 200 students. Despite varied ability levels, my students are from an area of dire need. They reside in a community that is poverty stricken and homes in which parents work multiple jobs to make ends meet and survive by way of governmental assistance. 100% of the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch due to their economic standings. More specifically my four year olds have a desire to be academic scholars despite their background and living conditions. Learning's a requirement to better their lives.
My Project
My students are aspiring to be future leaders that will lead our society to higher heights with a strong foundation and appreciation to reading. I am trying to develop a well stocked classroom library for the preschoolers in my class. My students love books. They have challenged me to find more books that are of interest to them.
These books and alphabet and number writing worksheets will aid their successes and accomplishments throughout their academic endeavors.
More specifically, in the state of Mississippi, many students are struggling with reading. In order for them to be successful in the future they must be exposed early. As we know the early years of school holds the most impact. Practice does make perfection!
