Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, I know that my students experience so many challenges at home. Some come from homes with no electricity and homes with domestic violence. Some students are coming from divorced families. We have students with many different types of special needs, from ADHD, severe depression, speech disabilities, and autism. My students deserve the best possible education. They deserve to want to come to school every single day because they know that they will receive the best.
My Project
The magnetic activities and small group whiteboard will allow me the opportunity to teach my students in a more visual and hands-on way. Most of my students require this type of teaching resource to succeed on the skill.
My students need more hands-on and engaging math activities.
In our classroom, we focus on learning through math centers. This means we learn in small groups of 4-5 and the activities need to be engaging and kid-friendly. The kids have their own chance to show what they know and what we are learning through independent play.
