Help me give my students a field trip to Apple Holler. They are learning about plants in school and a field trip to Apple Holler would allow them a hands on experience with plants in their community.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten literacy in South Milwaukee serving predominately low- income Hispanic and African American students. Around 15% of students in South Milwaukee are reading at grade level. Our charter school is giving these students the education they deserve through rigor, structure, and joy. We believe that with these three core values at the center of our school we can take our scholars to grade level and beyond.
As the kindergarten literacy teacher, I have the opportunity to help our Bright Stars break these achievement gaps in reading.
We look closely at what each student needs and help fill in their gaps through small group instruction.
Our school is not just pushing for academic development but social development as well. We want our Bright Stars to be strong community members in Milwaukee. Please help support our amazing students who deserve a great education.
My Project
Students will have the opportunity to go and explore what plants can do. At school we learn all about plants and trees in our plants unit. They learn how plants change and what they can produce. This field trip to Apple Holler will allow them to witness the wonders of plants and trees. They will be able to take home a pumpkin and share their knowledge with their families and friends.
Our Bright Stars will be able to take what we leaned in school and watch it come to life at Apple Holler.
This will be a field trip that they will always remember. We want our Bright Stars to be excited about learning and that is exactly the opportunity that Apple Holler allows.
