I teach in a school that serves students from Central Harlem. Almost all of them are eligible to receive free lunch. I would like my students to learn about the relationship between the plants, animals and their environment through a hands on activity that would take them to the Central Park Conservancy to capture pictures of insects and plants, to the Bronx Zoo to capture pictures of animals, and to the Brooklyn Botanical gardens to capture the flowers, trees and other plants with a pencil and notebook to record their observations. I would also like to be able to supply the students whose parents have forgotten to purchase a pencil for their youngster to use in the classroom. I serve 150 different students a day. The pencils get eaten up by the sharpeners,or just get lost. We can always use a pencil. I would really appreciate it so much if you would donate 5,000 number 2 pencils to furnish our students who are in need of learning to write, draw pictures of animals, and their relationship to plants and the environment. I would be so grateful. Thank you so much.
