Help me give my students tables and chairs for an inviting outdoor environment that engages their curiosity, stimulates their imaginations, invites exploration, and supports their growth and development.
Our preschoolers are energetic, curious by nature, and eager helpers. They come to school with open minds and open hearts. Like sponges they soak up everything around them.
Inclusion is an important aspect of our classroom.
It’s amazing how seamless watching general education students and students with special needs collaborate together and learn from one another. If one would take a picture of our room all you would see are preschoolers on the go, having fun, and learning at the same time.
Our preschoolers come from low income families, are Title I funded, and receive free or reduced-price lunches. Their parents are either seeking employment, going to school or working. Despite all of these challenges we strive to bridge the gap so that all preschoolers have an even playing field when they transition to Kindergarten.
The purpose of my project is to enhance our outdoor learning environment. We know preschoolers are more likely to enjoy and engage with environments that are flexible, where equipment can function in multiple ways, where more active play is supported and is also visually appealing.
Our outdoor learning environment needs a major overhaul.
The furnishing outdoors are rundown and mismatched. Most of our furnishings are old, from school salvage, or items discarded that no one wants or needs anymore. There is no cohesive design to our learning environment, just a hodgepodge of furnishings put together. Slowly but surely we are trying too add key pieces of furniture to help anchor our outdoor learning environment.
Our preschoolers deserve the very best furniture such as a child-sized table, two chairs and one bench that will be used as an activity center, an informal seating area to relax with friends and a space for them to play. With your kind generosity we will maximize this outdoor learning environment to help enhance our preschoolers' growth and development.
