My Visual Arts classes are a melting pot of students from all different backgrounds, talents, and passions. They are anxious to learn about art and ready to create awesome projects no matter their abilities, talents, language, or skills.
Journals are a great way for all students to be successful.
All of my students enjoy exploring new art materials, experimenting with new techniques, and are excited to write, reflect, and journal their thoughts. Their journal will be a collection place for art produced from exploring with pencil, chalk, charcoal, and pen, as well as experimenting with stamping and printing, water color and acrylic paint techniques and textures.
My Project
Journals provide valuable opportunities for all students to be creative by exploring and experimenting while writing and producing artwork. Specifically, students will: take notes, record project steps, write reflections, draw thumb nail sketches, label detailed drawings, collect and glue realia, experiment with sample painting techniques, while using academic and subject specific vocabulary.
The binder machine and binder combs will enable us to make inexpensive journals for all students.
After demonstrating how to use the machine, students will use 50 pages of the drawing paper and one binder comb to create their journal (I am providing thick poster board for the front and back covers).
These journals will also provide ways to differentiate instruction, build vocabulary, practice techniques and process steps, and assist students in gaining confidence in their art skills.
