This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This will be my first year teaching kindergarten at our Academy. I have taught here for eight years, but never kindergarten. Our school is a Title I school in Georgia, where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite the challenges my students face, my goal is to provide each student with opportunities to engage in meaningful learning experiences. I want to increase their attention and focus and motivate them to practice higher-level critical thinking skills!
My students are determined to become high achievers.
Our focus is based on The Leader In Me. The Leader in Me is Franklin Covey's whole school transformation process. This process teaches our scholars leadership, responsibility, accountability, problem-solving, adaptability, communication, initiative, and self-direction, creativity, cross-cultural skills, and teamwork. Our school is also in the process of being STEM certified. These engaging STEM materials will help my students be creative, explore, and stay engaged. My Project
I am excited to be teaching Kindergarten for the first time. I am in need of materials to help make this a successful school year! The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go! We just need your help in getting everything through our door!
These engaging materials will help students explore and create through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) lessons!
I will use these materials in small group literacy and math stations. I am building a LEGO table for the students to use the LEGO bricks to complete STEM lessons. I am creating STEM bins with tangrams, art materials, straw sets/connectors, and magnetic blocks. Students will be able choose different engaging activities each day!
