Imagine being a four year old who constantly questions their environment and is eager to participate in hands on activities.
They are constantly exploring how things work and what materials are made of.
We want to incorporate many science and STEAM activities to prepare our students for the future. Often students bring materials from outside (leaves, seeds, dirt, rocks) into the classroom to explore or play with more! Cultivating their curiosity is a big part of preschool!
Teaching in a GSRP Classroom where 100% of our students receive Free and Reduced Meals, our students come from a diverse background both ethnically and academically. Our students come to our school because we have over 60 acres of land with ponds, forests, meadows, and prairies.
We are an Environmentally focused school. We are looking to improve our Science Area within our two preschool classrooms.
My Project
The excitement of the light table in our Science Area will entice students with varying learning styles a different way to develop their math and literacy skills. The light tables will provide opportunities to manipulate and change colors and discover what materials are made of.
These light tables will help create hands on STEAM themed lessons.
While our students explore and manipulate these materials they will be developing their fine motor skills. Our students are living in time where they need to be competent in both technology and science this will peak their interest in both! The light tables will provide endless opportunities for open ended activities to inspire life-long learning.
