Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love watching how excited my students get when they enter my science class. The excitement exhibited is unlike anything I have experienced in the past. I am teaching 4th grade science for the first time...and have been introducing a variety of STEAM activities into the classroom.
I take such delight when I have students come up to me and say, "You're my favorite teacher!" or "Your class is my favorite!"
I enjoy watching them work together to try to work out complex problems and then, at the end of the period, request to come for their recess because they had a final thought as they were getting ready to leave for their next class.
My classes range from ESL to Gifted and Talented...and everything in between. Yet they somehow manage to come together and work to come up with some of the most creative ideas...that I never would have imagined myself.
My Project
These items will allow my students to complete a wide variety of STEAM activities throughout the 2019-2020 school year. They will study topics ranging from Rock Cycle & Earth's Surface to Human Body to Different Forms of Energy and how they work.
It will include activities from Science Exploration to Engineering, and help foster problem-solving skills.
It will allow them to learn to test, and retest ideas...in order to find innovative ways to solve challenges.
My students deserve the opportunity to learn to work together to face and overcome challenges. This will help build both confidence and real world skills that will help them succeed.
