My Students

I teach fourth grade students in a rural, Title I school community. With COVID, we are forced to have a blended learning experience. When cases are high in our school community, we have to move to distant learning for a week or two.

My students have proven to be flexible and adaptable.

I want to keep their interest for learning piqued, so that they can get the most out of their educational experiences, no matter the circumstances. Being a Title I school, we do not have a lot of funding for curriculum and materials. We currently do not have a complete science curriculum for fourth grade. I have had to piece together a curriculum for my students. Even though I have an unusually small class size this year, the items I am requesting will go on to support my future students as well.

My Project

My purpose for creating this project is to be able to make my Science and Social Studies classes more engaging and hands on when we are learning traditionally. For this, I am requesting building sets and other activities. With these materials, I will also have ideas at the ready to make virtual lessons the most impactful, and engaging that they can be. I also included some interesting reading novels complete with literature guides so that when students are learning virtually, I can have activities and questions that will hold them accountable for their learning. Unfortunately, when we are forced to go virtual, many students take it as a day off and are not participating. I am hoping to increase virtual attendance and participation.
