Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I know I have been inspired to pursue education because of the great teachers that have come before me. They took the time to share their knowledge and sparked my love for the classroom. I hope to connect my students with similar inspirational professionals and light their spark as well.
Most of my students come from lower socioeconomic demographics, and many do not speak English at home.
Most of the students qualify for the Title I free lunch program, have limited resources at home, and stay at school until the early evening, because of their hard-working parents who are trying to make it.
Our school does its best to inspire the kids. Our school brings the curriculum to life, but the challenges of limited budgets and language barriers make that mission difficult.
My Project
My mission is to be able to give my general and special education students the tools that will connect to their unique skills and social-emotional needs. I have adopted a Universal Design for Learning approach which means that students require multiple opportunities and varied tools to communicate, problem-solve, and present their learning. Innovative technology like the Apple Watch helps me easily accomplish this mission.
A classroom area with innovative technology tools will appeal to multiple learning styles, especially for my special education techie learners.
The Apple Watch exposes my students to the latest learning apps, ways to capture health data, and awakens their deep technological curiosities. This technology tool is interactive and turns users into creators and not just consumers. This is important for all of my students' 21st-century success. Thank you for any help that can be provided with this technology project.
