My Students
Our students have been in the United States between 6 months to 4 plus years. They are incredibly resilient in trying to learn English while simultaneously applying that English to content such as Science, Math and English Language Arts.
Our goal is to visit Dodge Nature Center to engage our students in experiential learning, which is vital for English language learners.
We believe our students may not get many opportunities to engage in nature and academics and we hope to provide them an opportunity to do so.
My Project
Our students will be able to engage and learn through nature.
They will be learning about how water systems operate and the importance of them.
They will also problem solve around improving water quality.
Students will also be learning wilderness skills. They will be learning nature survival skills, building a shelter in addition to building and maintaining a fire.
Some of our students may already have theses skills based off their experience from their home countries, this allows them to be an expert and teach others. This is especially important because coming to a completely new country with a completely new language often leaves you feeling inadequate.
