My Students

I teach a class of 23 diverse students. We are a Title 1 school, which means many of the students in our school are economically disadvantaged. In my classroom alone, I have students that are on free or reduced meal plans, and some students even receive “snack bags” to take home with them for the weekend. Because of the economic situations of most families, many students rarely get out of our small community.

My students don’t let this define them, however.

They are fun-loving, creative, caring, thoughtful and overall wonderful kids. They deserve the world, and it is my job to make sure they experience that.

My Project

Like I mentioned, many of my students don’t get the opportunity to leave our small town very often. My plan is to use the iPods to give them virtual reality experiences beyond our community. With the iPods, I can create and guide my students through different virtual reality expeditions. Not only can we explore different places, but we can use virtual reality to gain a deeper understanding of concepts. We can go inside a heart to explore the different parts. We can shrink down to the size of bugs to get up close and personal. Growing up, everyone loved the field trips Ms. Frizzle was able to take her students on with the Magic School bus. With virtual reality, these field trips are now possible.
