Experiencing Real Life Learning Through The Iditarod
My students need these differentiated books about the Iditarod to extend their learning about the topic. The variety of books will allow for my kids to read about the topic on their own level.
My students are the kindest and most caring students you’d meet. These kids love to help others and are always looking for ways to lend a helping hand.
This group of kids is creative, inquisitive and they love to learn.
They come to class each day with a smile on their faces, ready to learn. My classroom is an inclusion classroom with a variety of student needs.
In our school we strive to instill a growth mindset in our students. My kids know the value of the word “yet” when it comes to not understanding something. My students know that making mistakes is all part of learning!
My Project
To supplement our reading textbook, the 4th grade teachers at our school are implementing an Iditarod unit. These books will allow for us to extend our students’ learning about the Iditarod. These books will be used by all 5 fourth grade classes at our school, so they will be used by a lot of students.
Since the books are on different levels, we will be able to meet our students’ individual reading needs through differentiation.
Also, these books will allow for our students to participate in real life learning about the Iditarod. Our school is located in a rural area so our students have little to no prior knowledge about this topic.
