Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fifth graders are kind, curious and excited about school! They have come to our school from all over the world and share one thing- they love to learn. My students are fascinated by the world around them and are discovering the ways in which they can contribute to making the world a better place.
My Project
Within the four walls of my classroom, I have students that are just learning to read, students who are adult level readers and everything in between. These Magic Tree House books are perfect for students who are just starting to get into chapter books- which is about a third of my class.
Over the years, I have gotten many students hooked on reading with this magical series.
Students love getting to know Jack and Annie (the main characters) and exploring history with them. The fantastical elements of the book only add to the students' enjoyment. The best part is that when one adventure ends, there is another book with another adventure and another clue to solving an even bigger mystery which develops students ability to connect events across multiple books.
