Experience Literature and the Adventure of a Good Book

My students need the opportunity to listen to and enjoy quality literature. Students will use a CD/cassette player with headphones to hear books that are recorded to hear what "good reading" sounds like.

My Students

My first grade students are full of energy, with a strong desire to learn and read. We live in three small, rural communities that combine to make our school district. Our elementary school is a small district with approximately 200 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.

These special first grade students love to learn through activities that are fun, yet focus on the skills that we need to master in first grade.

Six and seven-year-olds have the enthusiasm and energy to make any type of learning fun.

My Project

My 1st grade students will get the opportunity to enjoy literature with this special project! I am requesting a CD/cassette player with headphones to be used in my classroom.

This will allow students to enjoy listening to prerecorded stories while they follow along in the book.

Hearing "good readers" read fluently and use expression models for these young, emergent readers what reading should sound like. Students will also enjoy listening to stories with friends and share their love and passion for books.

A CD/cassette player can also be used as an opportunity for students to record and listen to themselves evolve into confident and fluent readers.
