Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is full of bright three and four-year-olds in a poor urban area. The smiles on their faces as they walk in our doors brighten our day. One child looked at me after only eleven days of school and asked me, “Can I sit closer to you because I love you?” How do you not want to give them the world! We as teachers want to expose our children to activities and experiences that they may not be able to do or go to. We hope they can make the language arts connection which we do in the classroom to this experience. So, we are asking for funds to pay for four classrooms of children (60) and 20 adults to go see Pout-Pout Fish.
My Project
In a society where learning is done by holding a phone or tablet where poverty holds children back from being able to see their full creative potential, I believe it is important to open their minds to the depth of interaction they can have through the Performing Arts. It is something that will help them learn about literacy and help them make connections between what we do in the classroom and what they can be exposed to in the outside world. I hope this will change their lives and open their eyes to something new. I hope you can help me make this possible for my students. Thank you so much!
