My students need their parents to understand exactly how brains best learn. Dr. Wesson is ready to visit our school to help us better understand the research and put these new ideas to use!
I teach in a STEAM/Project Based Learning school, with an emphasis on the Whole Child. I truly love these curious students and their families, so we continually trying to provide ways to better help everyone learn important foundation skills.
'Wondering' is the basis of meaningful learning.
One way that we implement curiosity and foster family engagement is to have education speakers come to facilitate family activities. Research shows both parents and students are motivated by people that spark their minds. When the speaker is a renowned expert, it everyone in. Rather than me telling them what to learn, the parents and students then come up with ideas that excite them and provide the direction of their learning.
My Project
I work hard to pass on the wonder of Science to my students and their families. Through a visit from Dr. Kenneth Wesson, they will experience new ways the brain learns Science, and experience it in a hands-on way. Dr. Wesson is a ScienceMaster. His presentations are part talk, part hands-on learning, part take-home materials...and all fun!
No great Science discovery or innovation happened solely on paper.
A direct Science experience is a great way to help parents and children absorb and understand deeper level concepts. Research supports the idea that children learn best when they get their hands involved. With ScienceMaster, Dr. Wesson will not only share stellar background knowledge but also lead students and their families through hands-on activities that match our Science curriculum. The take home materials we receive (blocks, bottles, magnets, balls, etc.) help us practice and understand the complicated phenomenon in ways that will go beyond this event. The fact that it can be interactive and fun as well- bonus!
