Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school is smack dab in the middle of the city. We are diverse. We have many socioeconomic and academic levels, and we are racially and religiously diverse. We represent 5 major religions and speak 10 languages.

We have students that are intellectually gifted, within the autism spectrum, hearing impaired, and typical.

We work together for a common goal - academic achievement.

We attend to the whole child - academic, social, emotional, and physical. We like to play hard and we like to work hard!

My Project

I am requesting 25 copies of Lizards, Frog, and Polliwogs and 25 copies of Venom to better student reading comprehension. I have chosen these book sets because they are high quality literature book sets that meet the academic needs of my students. Also, our district has only provided 1 copy of each of these titles for the entire class. The children can have "book club" just like adults. Children will be able to create experiences with other student through reading these books in "Book Club". Through our literature circle, the children's reading levels and interest will increase. With the help from donors like you, the students will be able to read trade-books together as a group. A love for reading will be instilled due to the donation of these high quality literature trade-books.
