Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I currently teach 15 second graders who come to school excited to learn. My students come to school with different challenges, but they do not allow that to get in the way of achieving their personal best. Currently all of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch.
My students bring so much love, joy and creativity into the classroom and love having fun learning experiences!
My students are currently learning how to become independent learners, thinkers and doers. I am always looking for new, exciting ways to engage my students in their learning!
My Project
Creative thinking and STEM has become a critical skill in our modern society. Modern day employers want leaders who can think outside of the box, not just repeat facts. Since there is this new need for critical thinking and STEM in our workforce, it is my duty to provide opportunities for my students to practice these skills in the classroom.
My students LOVE to work together during and share their creative ideas .
The Legos and Magna-Tiles will allow my students to have STEM in the classroom, a resource that most do not have at home. These Legos and Magna-tiles will be used for STEM projects where the students will be required to work together to solve a problem, or build a specific thing. This gives the students a chance to build cooperation between a group, as well as their creative thinking.
I have already seen in my class through our STEM challenges that engagement with the building materials is high! I would love to be able to continue challenge my students through these activities so they are ready for a creative and cooperative work environment for their future.
