The town where I teach is very unique. We have students who come from all over the world due to military connections, as well as some who were born and raised right here. My students are all of mixed abilities, cultures, and backgrounds which makes it so exciting to have the opportunity to learn from them myself!
It is my hope that my students, who come from all corners of the country, have the opportunity to learn and thrive within the walls of my classroom.
Seventh grade is such a difficult yet exciting time in a student's academic career. Not only are they getting to learn about themselves as individuals, I truly believe that they are all learning how to be cooperative learners at this stage in school as well. As I get to know each and every one of them, I am excited to help them figure out what their passions are and how my class can help develop them.
My Project
My students have been loving the flexible seating area that was funded by my last DonorsChoose.org project, so I wanted to give more of them the option to use this space.
This project will expand upon my existing flexible seating area because the demand for this space are high due to the collaborative nature of my class.
The exercise mat is used for padding on the floor where students often complete group work. They like to use this as an alternative to sitting on the bare tiles. "Meditation" cushions are used for students to sit on, lay on, or use as a back cushion when learning against the wall. These items have been very popular in my classroom thus far which is why I would like to get more for them to utilize.
The addition of the clipboards will allow my students to better complete classwork when not sitting at a traditional desk. My students focus better when they are in a comfortable space and are able to choose where in the room they learn best.
The students in my classes have specifically asked for these items so that they can use them when working in groups or independently reading. Please consider helping us reach our goal!
