My 5th grade classroom of gifted and talented students are active, fast learners who are are motivated by all things creative, academic, and physical. Besides enhanced activity at school, they are also very active in extracurricular sporting and performing arts activities. They appreciate everything that helps them gain more knowledge.
They are always on the go trying new ways to do things to keep their imaginations fueled.

My Project
My students LOVE using their imaginations to create and explore in our STEM/blended learning lessons. I have requested mind-bender puzzles such as a Magic Cube, Megaminx Cube, Speed Cube, Smooth Mirror Cube, Ivy Cube SQ-1 Cube, and a Magnetic Cube for students to make problem-solving connections in our power hour on Fridays. Also, I have requested a Mastermind game, Spin Master Games called the Perplexus Epic and Perplexus Warp to also increase problem-solving skills, and building games like the Hexbug Nano Nitro to introduce robotics as well as engineering cause and effect. They will use these resources during our STEM-based lessons and Power Hour to increase spatial reasoning and creative thinking abilities.
My students need a 3-Button USB Wired Mouse, Fifine technology USB Microphone and USB Lavalier Lapel Microphone, plus Life Idea Earphones to design and publish audio/visual projects to highlight their learning and learn how to present ideas in a professional manner.
They will be recording and reviewing video using the microphones and earbuds that are requested to explain their STEM creations as well as create podcasts, tutorials, and other audio/visual products for American history, science, and literature. They also each need a mouse for their laptops because we use the devices very regularly and a mouse adds comfort and speed.
A large part of our studies involves reading and writing about American history. The students learn American history best when told in story form. Therefore, I have requested the "Midnight Rider" and "The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle" novels that we need to build our American history library. Students will also be designing visual biographies of notable Americans and will need the creative thinking and technology skills that the problem-solving games and computer accessories that are mentioned above will provide.
